Between inside and outside.
This excursus between the four projects presented highlights some coherent elements with Liliana Moro's artistic practice, such as the habit of working in public spaces and the use of child-related and game-related themes.
Moro has dealt with the theme of public art works since her early works, such as La Passeggiata (1988), part of the "Politica" exhibition in Novi Ligure, where she had installed a series of shoes built and held together by an iron chain. Among the most significant public works we can also mention Attesa riempita da una seduta (2000), a permanent installation commissioned by the city of Nantes in France, where four groups of ten chairs, each of a different color (yellow, red, green and blue) were placed at the four corners of Place A. Vincent in Nantes, and more recently in 2015, 29.88 KMQ, the Infopoint of the Municipality of Trivero (Biella) for the project ALL’APERTO by Fondazione Zegna. The installation was made up of a "reception facility", designed to disseminate news and information about the territory and its activities, whose form recalls the newsstands of the past and on whose cover is positioned a yellow globe, while a twin globe lights up on the facade of the nearby ProLoco tourist office, at the Zegna Center, signalling its opening to the public.
In particular, the four unrealized projects would be an opportunity to enter into a different playful dimension, a physical crossing in the world of fairy tales, and the creation of obscene situations that would introduce unexpected opportunities in everyday life, and a questioning of the relationship between interior and exterior, public and private. In the artist’s words:
Almost all my work aims at highlighting the connection between inside and outside. The house, a recurrent theme in my work, is the place that accommodate us and in a certain way it represents, in synthesis, the relationship between inside and outside [1]
