Marco Vaglieri. ...una volta
The project ...una volta (...once upon a time) consisted in the realization of a model representing the map of the world to be installed on the ceiling of the entertainment room of the new department. The room was dedicated, in preliminary projects, to the rest of the patients’ families. The model represents the terrestrial world map as it would be after a global rise of seas and oceans. The project involved the construction of the model - of which Vaglieri created a render and plants of the project – in flame retardant and non-toxic resin and painted with fluorescent color that would have allowed the vision, even at night and with the lights off. The white surface would have emerged from the ceiling painted with in blue.
In the catalogue, realised on the occasion of the exhibition at GAM in Bologna, is also published an aerial view of an island and of the surrounding sea with the following caption: "If I do not return, keep in mond that I never left. My travel has all been a stay here, where I have never been", a quote of the Biglietto lasciato prima di non andare via (Ticket left before
do not go away) by the Italian poet and literary critic Giorgio Caproni (Livorno 1912 - Rome 1990). This quote points out the narrative side and the invitation to travel - already suggested by the title of the work – that is typical of the artist’s poetry, whose attention has recently been focused on the relationship between literary and visual language.
