Monolite in bilico is a project conceived for the new town of Gibellina, consisting of a large monolith made of slate or volcanic stone, balanced on a Trapani stone egg and placed on a white concrete pedestal. The work was conceived in 1979, following the artist’s visit to Gibellina and his meeting with Mayor Ludovico Corrao, with the intention of representing the force of nature while simultaneously evoking the idea of rebirth.
